A resin kit of the A/S32A-49 deck tow tractor in 1:72 scale. At this scale the model is small, but it plays all the bigger a part in a scene: it gives a model of a carrier aircraft scale and a story without taking up room. It is a model in its own right, not an accessory to be put inside another kit.
Deck tow tractors move aircraft about the flight deck and in the hangar, position them before takeoff and tow them away after landing. The machine is therefore built as low as possible, so that it passes under the fuselage and the wings of an aircraft, and at the same time heavy enough to shift a fully equipped aircraft. The driver sits in an open position for visibility. The silhouette of the tractor is so characteristic that even a layman recognizes it in a deck scene.
With resin a different procedure applies than with plastic. Wash the parts in warm soapy water first because of mold release residue, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and true the surface up with a file. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; on small parts in 1:72 the gel version and tweezers help. Protect your airways when sanding. Apply a thin primer before painting. At this scale keep the weathering subtle: heavy scuffing and coarse dust make the model look bigger and spoil the sense of scale. It is enough to suggest a dirty underside and a discreet shadow in the recesses.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
