A set of photo-etched parts in 1:72 scale for a model of the British Vickers Wellington Mk.II bomber. It adds elements to the kit that cannot be molded in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vickers Wellington was a British twin-engine bomber that served from the first days of the Second World War. Its distinguishing mark is the geodetic structure of the fuselage and the wing, that is a framework of crosswise sections under a fabric covering. Thanks to it the machine could take damage after which another type would not have got home. The Mk.II version differs in its powerplant: instead of radial engines it was given liquid-cooled V12 engines, so it has differently shaped engine nacelles and radiators.
This is a set of photo-etched parts from thin metal sheet. Photo-etching can do what injection-molded plastic cannot: instrument panels with recesses, seat belts, grilles, buckles, platforms and fine frames. The parts are held in the fret by small tabs and are taken from it gradually, only when their turn comes during the build. The extent of the set and the placement of the individual parts are described in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut a part off with a sharp blade on a hard backing rather than nipping it off, and sand the remains of the tab away. Make the bends over a metal edge or in a bending tool so that they are sharp and in the right place. The parts are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in drops; polystyrene cement will not bond metal. Before painting, degrease the sheet and lay on a primer coat intended for metal, otherwise the paint will chip when you handle it. Fit the interior elements before you glue the fuselage halves together.
The set is an accessory to a kit. The model, paints, glue and decals are not included, unless stated otherwise.
