The Vickers Wellington Mk.II masking set from Art Scale is a modeling accessory for a kit, not an airplane model. It serves for covering the clear parts while spraying, so that the framing comes out straight and with a sharp transition between the paint and the glass. The designation one-sided means a single-sided set for the outer side of the glazing.
The Vickers Wellington was a British twin-engine bomber whose airframe was built on a geodetic lattice structure covered with fabric. This solution, associated with the name of Barnes Wallis, gave the aircraft remarkable resistance to battle damage. The Mk.II version differs from most of the others in its powerplant: instead of radial engines it was given liquid-cooled Rolls-Royce Merlin V12s, so it has a different shape of engine nacelle and a different silhouette at the wing leading edge. The glazing of the machine consists of the pilots cockpit, the nose glazing and the gun turrets, that is, several separate assemblies each with its own framing.
Wash and degrease the clear part. Lift the masks off the carrier film with tweezers, lay them on the frame and press them down with a soft tool so that the edges seat along their whole length. On spherical turrets and curved transitions a small fan-shaped nick or careful trimming with a sharp scalpel right on the part helps. Spray in thin coats: the interior shade first, then the base coat and finally the top color. A heavy coat builds a ridge under the edge of the mask and leaves a step once it is lifted. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch.
