Replacement wheels for an aircraft model in 1:72 scale. Even in this small scale the wheels are among the most conspicuous parts, because the model stands on them and the eye judges their outline first. Which type of aircraft they are intended for does not follow from the designation of the item, so compare the diameter of the wheel and the shape of the hub with your own kit before building.
The parts are small, so work over a tray with raised edges and use tweezers. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest away with fine abrasive paper so that the outline of the tire is preserved. Try the fit dry and only then glue with super glue onto a washed, degreased surface.
In a small scale it works well to paint the whole wheel in dark gray at once and then pick the hub out with a fine brush; a circular mask is more of a nuisance than a help at this diameter. Do not use a pure black tire, as in a photograph and under display case lighting it merges into a shapeless blob. Apply dust only as a hint at the contact patch, or a small part will lose its shape under a layer of pigment.
