A vacuum-formed clear canopy for the Yak-1B in 1:72 scale from Quinta Studio — a thin, perfectly transparent replacement cover for the pilot's compartment.
Responsibility details are not available.
This accessory brings a vacuum-formed clear canopy for models of the Yakovlev Yak-1B fighter in 1:72 scale. A vacuum-formed cover is thinner and more transparent than the usual injection-molded part out of the box, so it markedly improves the look of the glazing. It is not an airplane kit but a replacement clear part. The canopy is pulled to suit the Yak-1B kit from Arma Hobby.
The Yakovlev Yak-1B is a Soviet single-seat fighter of the Second World War, valued for its good handling and simple construction. Among other things, the Yak-1B version had a revised shape at the rear of the cockpit and a better view, which shows in the shape of the canopy as well. Thin vacuum-formed glazing makes it possible to show the cockpit slid back or open convincingly.
Cut the part carefully out of the film, fine-tune the outline by sanding and attach it with a glue suitable for clear parts (PVA glue, for example, or a small amount of cyanoacrylate). Mask the frames and spray them in the color of the airframe. Handle the vacuum-formed cover with care, as the package usually holds only one of each shape.
The set is supplied as a clear vacuum-formed part. Paints, masking and the base model are not included in the package.
