Responsibility details are not available.
This kit from the manufacturer Zebranomodel captures the ZiS-41, a Soviet self-propelled anti-tank weapon from the start of the 1940s. It is a very little known subject that practically does not appear in the usual range of kits. The model is in 1:72, the common collecting scale for military vehicles. The contents of the package, the number of parts and the material used are stated on the packaging of the kit. In character it is a specialized short-run kit rather than an ordinary injection-molded one.
The ZiS-41 was one of the Soviet attempts of the early 1940s to create a mobile carrier for an anti-tank gun on an already established automotive chassis. The solution rested on a half-track chassis derived from a truck, which was meant to improve cross-country mobility compared with purely wheeled vehicles, and on an anti-tank gun mounted on the cargo bed. The design did not catch on and never reached large-scale production, so it remained at the stage of a tested solution. That is exactly why it is a subject of interest mainly to collectors of prototypes and experimental equipment.
With short-run kits it pays to dry-fit the parts first and to cut any casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter rather than nippers. If the parts are of resin, wash any mold release agent off them before painting, bond them with cyanoacrylate glue and use airway protection when sanding. Apply a primer before painting to even out the different materials. A single-color Soviet finish will appreciate fine shading of the large surfaces and discreet weathering, especially dust on the running gear and edge highlighting with a dry brush. Paint the tracked part of the running gear before the superstructure is closed up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
