Unlike most of the plaques in this range, here no honorific name stands after the sequence number. This is not an omission: the division with the number 30 is commonly given in the sources only by its sequence and a supplementary national designation, as it had no settled honorific name. The unit came about in 1944 by merging auxiliary detachments from the occupied territories in the east and was briefly committed in France, where it quickly fell apart. The designation Waffen Grenadier Division Of The SS was used precisely with divisions brought up to strength from the non-German population.
With a unit without an honorific name the plaque is all the more practical, because the sequence number is the only thing that places a scene unambiguously.
