A collector's model of the station wagon version of the Skoda Felicia after the 1998 facelift, finished in the service colors of the Czech Customs Administration. It is supplied finished, assembled and painted from the factory, so it calls for no modeling work and no tools. Among passenger cars, 1:43 is the most widespread collector's format, so the model fits well into a row among other cars of the same size and at the same time stands up as an individual piece on a shelf.
The Skoda Felicia was produced in Mlada Boleslav from 1994 and followed on from the Favorit, with which it shared the basis of the body and the mechanical parts. It was already created under the leadership of the Volkswagen group, which showed in the quality of the workmanship and in the engines. The station wagon version added an extended luggage compartment and became an ordinary utility car of Czech firms, municipalities and state services. The designation FL belongs to the modernized series from 1998 with a revised front end and a reworked interior. Cars in the service finish of the Customs Administration were part of the typical picture of Czech roads and border crossings at that time, which makes them a rewarding theme for collectors of period Czech automobiles.
The model is painted at the factory and carries the service markings, so nothing is done to it: it is not glued, sanded or sprayed. When handling it, pick it up by the body, not by the mirrors, the wipers or the beacon, which are the finest elements of the whole model. It looks best in a display case with even light, because direct sun changes the shade of the paint and of the plastic parts over time. Dust can simply be taken off with a soft brush or with microfiber, and fingerprints with a fine dry cloth. Models in a service finish work well in a themed group with other cars of state services in the same scale.
