6th SS Mountain Division Nord Plaque 40mm is a plaque with the emblem of a mountain division, meant for marking the base of a diorama or a display case. It is neither a kit nor a figure.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plaque with a unit emblem whose dimension is given in the name as 40 mm. It is part of no kit and on its own it represents nothing - it is a caption for a scene. You fix it to the front of a base, to the plinth under a display case or to the frame of a glazed cabinet, and the viewer sees at once which unit the built equipment or figures belong to. Scale plays no part with it, because it marks the scene, not the real subject.
The designation 6th SS Mountain Division Nord belongs to a mountain division committed from 1941 on the northern sector of the Eastern Front in Finland and in Karelia, that is in arctic, boggy and wooded terrain, where the fighting was for roads and railways rather than for towns. After the north was given up in 1944 the unit was withdrawn through Norway and Denmark, and the end of the war found it in the west of Germany. This is a historical designation from the Second World War and the plaque is a factual caption for a built scene.
With a Nordic scene the base tends to be light - snow, gray stone, bleached grass. So the plaque will stand out better on a darkly stained wooden plinth than directly on a snow-covered area, where it would merge with its surroundings. Level and degrease the ground before fitting, so that it seats over its whole area, and leave a free margin around it. Fit it only after the surface treatments are finished, so that no sanding dust gets onto it.
