An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary ghost ship Flying Dutchman in 1:100 from the maker Zvezda. The model captures a richly decorated three-masted sailing ship with full rigging and a hull conceived in fantasy style; the package contains injection-molded sprues, cordage and decals. The assembled model measures roughly 37.5 cm.
The Flying Dutchman is the best-known sea legend of a cursed ship condemned to plow the seas forever and never allowed to land on a shore; according to the tale, sighting her brings sailors misfortune. The subject of the model is a fantasy one: this is not a particular historic ship but an artistic rendering of the fabled vessel inspired by the sailing ships of the 17th and 18th centuries, with tall superstructures and a decorated stern.
Assemble the hull and clean the joints up, and glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic. Seat the masts at a right angle and tension the cordage gradually and symmetrically. For a ghostly look, dark weathered shades of wood with a greenish cast and a dry brush to bring out the carvings and the edges are suitable. The finished model stands out on the supplied stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
