1:144 Tupolev Tu-22KD Blinder is a plastic kit of the Soviet supersonic bomber in its missile-carrying version from the Ukrainian manufacturer Mikromir. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

A plastic kit in 1:144 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer Mikromir. The real subject is the Tupolev Tu-22 in the missile-carrying KD version, Blinder in the NATO code. Even in 1:144 it is a large model — the real subject was a twin-engine supersonic bomber with its characteristic engines on either side of the vertical tail.
The letters in the designation suggest what the machine could do. The K version is the missile carrier: it carried the large Kh-22 anti-ship and land-attack missile, which NATO designated AS-4 Kitchen, semi-recessed under the fuselage, and for guiding it the aircraft was given a bulky radar under the nose. The missile ran on liquid propellant and struck its target from hundreds of kilometers away. The letter D then means that the aircraft was given an in-flight refueling probe on the nose and with it a longer reach. The Tu-22 did not fly with the Soviet Air Force alone — the list of users of the type also includes the air forces of Libya and Iraq, and the Iraqi machines took part in the Iran-Iraq War.
Glue and fill the engine nacelles beside the vertical tail before you attach them to the fuselage — on a finished model that joint cannot be reached. Balance the long nose and the gear bays with weight, otherwise the model will not sit down. Spray metal surfaces onto a smoothly sanded primer; on a rough surface a duralumin shade will not come out. Even out the large areas with thin coats and bring out the panel lines only at the end.
