An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet Yakovlev UT-1 trainer and aerobatic aircraft in the small 1:144 scale from Mikromir. The 3 in 1 set contains parts for three models in one package, allowing several variants of the aircraft to be built, among them the land version with landing gear and the floatplane version. It is a short-run kit with fine detail, usually complemented by a photo-etched fret and a decal sheet.
The Yakovlev UT-1 was a Soviet single-seat trainer and aerobatic aircraft of the 1930s, designed by the team of Alexander Yakovlev. It served for advanced pilot training and, thanks to its agility, found a place in aerobatics as well; in small numbers it was also used in an auxiliary combat role during the war. It existed in several versions, including one on floats.
In 1:144 scale the parts are tiny, so work with tweezers and a sharp knife, and clean up and fit the mating surfaces carefully. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting and put the colors on with an airbrush in thin layers; small scales benefit from thin coats so that the detail is not lost. Decide in advance which of the three variants you want to build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
