About product

Sard Kitz Toyota 92C-V - JSPC Suzuka 500 km 1992, 1:24, Hasegawa

An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese brand Hasegawa. The box defines it as a Toyota 92C-V in the colors of the Sard team partners for the Japanese sports prototype championship event on the Suzuka circuit over a distance of 500 kilometers in 1992. It is a closed endurance prototype, not a car with a production basis, so the model has a low body with covered wheels and a large rear wing.

The real subject

The Toyota 92C-V was a late development step in the line of closed prototypes with which Toyota ran the Japanese sports prototype championship and endurance races. It was powered by a turbocharged R36V V8 engine of 3.6 liters, created by enlarging an earlier 3.0-liter design. In 1992 three 92C-V cars started in every event of the championship and finished on the podium four times, but they did not take a win. The 1992 season was the last for the Japanese sports prototype championship, which was then replaced by a series of cars with closed bodies derived from production models.

Building and painting tips

With a prototype the shape of the body decides: fill the parting seams of the bodywork, smooth them and check them with a coat of filler primer, because a low glossy surface betrays every ripple. Finish the interior with the roll cage and the seat before you join the body to the frame. Lay the partner decals over a gloss clear coat, settle them with a decal softener and overcoat them. Dry-fit the rear wing and its mounts so that it sits in line with the car.

Who the model is for

  • collectors of Group C endurance prototypes
  • fans of Japanese racing and team liveries of the 1990s
  • modelers who want to practice a glossy finish on a low body

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

A closed endurance prototype with covered wheels, built for long races. It has no production basis; both the body and the frame were created purely for racing.

A turbocharged R36V V8 engine of 3.6 liters. It came about by enlarging an earlier 3.0-liter design from the same firm.

They are not. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. For the partner decals you will need a gloss clear coat and a decal softener.

It is not stated by the manufacturer. The box defines the team, the livery and a single event of 1992; the decal options are in the instructions in the kit.
