This injection-molded plastic kit from Revell captures the German medium bomber Heinkel He 111 in the P-1 version in the impressive large 1:32 scale. The real subject

The Heinkel He 111 was one of the backbones of the German bomber force at the beginning of the Second World War. The P series was distinguished by a newly designed, fully glazed asymmetric nose and by Daimler-Benz DB 601 engines. The bomber was deployed among other places over Poland and in the Battle of Britain, where its vulnerability to modern fighters became apparent.

Building and painting tips

Because of the size and the amount of glazing it pays to build in subassemblies and to finish the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage. Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic, fill the joints and sand them down. Mask the glazing; an airbrush and a base primer are recommended for an even foundation. Apply the German gray-green and light blue shades in fine coats and refine the weathering with washes and a light emphasis of the panel lines.
