This is a set of turned metal barrels in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It holds four barrels for the 8 mm Hotchkiss model 1909 machine guns, that is a complete set for the armament of the Mk.A Whippet medium tank. It is not a tank model but a detail accessory with which you replace the plastic barrels on a finished kit and gain a crisper profile, correct proportions and a hollow muzzle.
The Medium Tank Mk.A Whippet was a British fast tank of the end of the First World War, designed as a companion to the slow heavy tanks. Unlike them it had a fixed superstructure with no rotating turret and relied entirely on machine-gun armament spread over several ports so as to cover the surroundings of the vehicle. That is exactly why the set holds four identical barrels. It was deployed in the closing phase of the fighting on the Western Front, where it was to exploit breakthroughs in the defenses.
Cut the plastic barrels off as close to the mounting as possible, widen the hole with a drill to the diameter of the metal part and deburr the surface. Degrease the metal before gluing and roughen it lightly, then bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Use a primer meant for metal surfaces on the metal, otherwise the paint holds badly. Leave the muzzle in a dark shade with no gloss, or bring it out gently with graphite.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
