Turned barrel for the Hungarian Zrinyi assault gun in 1:35 scale from Aber, 105 mm caliber. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale for a model of the Hungarian Zrinyi assault gun, armed with the 105 mm model 40/43M howitzer. It is not a kit but a replacement for the plastic part. The short, stout howitzer barrel has a pronounced muzzle and changes of diameter that never come out exactly in plastic, while on turned metal they are crisp and symmetrical.
The Zrinyi was a Hungarian assault gun built on a domestic tank chassis. The 105 mm howitzer in a low enclosed superstructure was meant to destroy fortified positions and support infantry, not to fight tanks. Hungarian production was limited and only a few dozen vehicles were built, deployed in fighting on home soil at the end of the war. For modelers it is a rewarding and not very common subject.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the turret as possible and drill the seating so that the pin of the metal barrel sits firmly without passing right through. Degrease the metal with alcohol and apply a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. It is bonded with super glue, that is, cyanoacrylate, applied drop by drop. Fit the barrel at the very end of the build so that it is not bent during handling, and check its axis by eye from the front while the glue sets.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
