1:35 Concrete Breeze Blocks Version 14 (40pcs) is a set of concrete blocks in 1:35 scale from the brand GINGER CAT, meant for building surroundings on a diorama or a vignette. It is neither a kit nor a finished model, but material out of which you build a scene yourself. The name gives forty pieces.
It is not always a question of a large diorama. With a vignette, where the main subject is a single vehicle or two figures, one well-chosen element of the surroundings decides. A piece of low concrete wall in the foreground does exactly what is needed: it sets the scale, gives the composition depth and covers the transition from the base into nothing. The loose blocks then serve as a small detail, a piece propped up, a chock, material set aside. Forty parts are enough for several such vignettes one after another.
On a small area every mistake shows, so work slowly and try a lot out dry. Never build the wall across the whole width of the base; better leave it broken and part of the area open. Do the painting in layers: a light base, a fine wash into the joints, a careful dry brush, and the pigments only at the end. On a small scene it holds that less patina means more; exaggerated soiling comes across as distracting over a few square centimeters. A matte varnish will bring the result together.
