A set of figures in 1:35 scale on the theme of the soldiers of the Eritrean battalions of the Italian colonial forces. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
Eritrea was among the Italian possessions in East Africa, and Italy raised its own colonial infantry battalions from local men. It is exactly these that the set is about. For a modeler it is a subject that comes up only rarely: figures of colonial soldiers look quite different from the European infantry of the same army, and a scene with them has an obvious place and time at once. They fit Italian hardware and a diorama that does not want to be one more European street.
It is a set of figures in 1:35 scale, supplied unassembled and unpainted. The number of figures, their poses and the extent of the accessories are given in the instructions enclosed in the package.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest down. On figures, watch above all the seams on the arms and the torso, because once painted an unsanded seam shows more than it does on hardware. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Wash and degrease the figures before painting. Paint in layers from the base tone toward the light areas and leave the faces and hands until last. With dark skin it pays to keep the base muted and to bring the modeling of the face out with warm light rather than with white.
Paints, glue and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
