A set of five figures of a German bomber crew for the He 111 in combat poses, 1:35 scale from Border Model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds five figures of a German bomber crew for the Heinkel He 111 in 1:35 scale, in poses taken in flight and in action rather than during ground servicing. The maker is Border Model. 1:35 is an unusual scale for aircrew figures, and it has to do with the fact that it was precisely in this scale that a large He 111 with a well-detailed interior appeared, an interior the crew belongs in.
The Heinkel He 111 was a German twin-engine bomber which in its later form carried a glazed nose with stations for the navigator and bombardier. The crew consisted of the pilot, the navigator and bombardier, the radio operator, who also manned the upper machine gun, and gunners in the ventral gondola and the side windows, that is exactly five men. The way the crew was distributed through the fuselage is interesting in itself for a modeler.
Fit the figures into the fuselage dry before you close the model up, because once the fuselage is together you cannot reach them. Paint them separately, off the aircraft, and finish them including the faces before you fit them. Flight suits come to life after a dark wash into the folds, and it pays to separate leather items and parachute harnesses with a contrasting shade.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
