1:35 Israelian villa ruin

Royal Model 1:35 — a villa ruin for a diorama

A diorama accessory in 1:35 scale: the ruin of a residential villa in Middle Eastern style, as stated on the box under the name Israelian villa ruin. It is not a kit of a vehicle or of military equipment, but an architectural set piece into which a vehicle or figures are placed. Royal Model is an Italian manufacturer of resin and photo-etched accessories and of diorama parts.

What it is suited to

• As the main set piece of a small diorama or vignette.
• For scenes from Middle Eastern conflicts.
• As a backdrop that closes off the edge of the base and gives the scene depth.
• As a source of debris — the masonry can be broken up further and filled out with rubble.

Building and painting tips

Ruins live off their surface. Spray the masonry with a light base shade, then work filters and washes into the joints and finally pull out the edges and the raised places with a dry brush. The plaster and the bare masonry beneath it call for different tones, so that it is clear what has fallen off and what has stayed. Fill the joints between the parts with putty and carry the texture over them, otherwise a straight line will stay where a crack should be. Rubble, dust and vegetation finish the scene.

Who it is for

For modelers who build dioramas and vignettes and want a finished architectural set piece without carving it out of plaster and cardboard. A finished casting also holds the scale, which easily drifts when the piece is built by hand.

Figures, the vehicle, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
