This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale captures the German Jagdpanther Ausf. G2 tank destroyer with its maintenance crane and engine. The set from Meng contains photo-etched parts, metal cables, side armor skirts (Schürzen) and individual track links. The optional crane makes a striking maintenance scene possible.
The Jagdpanther was among the most successful German tank destroyers of the Second World War; it combined the Panther chassis with a powerful 8.8 cm gun set in a steeply sloped front plate. The late Ausf. G2 version, fielded from the autumn of 1944, carried a mount on the hull for a maintenance crane that let the crew lift ammunition or change and repair the engine.
Finish the running gear first, and the engine bay as well if you want to display it open. Spray the base coat with a primer and mask the typical three-tone camouflage. Washes, filters and dust pigments create the weathering; bring out the metal cables with graphite.
