A combined package of kits of the German light standard cross-country car in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the second half of the 1930s the German army tried to do away with its motley mixture of seized and purchased automobiles and had three standard chassis developed. The lightest of them was built in parallel by Stoewer, BMW and Hanomag. It had all-wheel drive, independent suspension and, on the first production runs, even rear-wheel steering, which crews only learned to handle cross-country after a good deal of practice.
Various purpose-built versions were created on the common frame. One carried commanders and dispatch riders, another served as a radio car with the operators of the equipment at the rear, a further one carried a pair of machine guns on the body against low-flying aircraft. It is precisely this change of bodies that makes these cars a rewarding subject, because the same machine looks different each time depending on what sits behind the driver seats. In service, however, the car turned out to be complex and expensive, so from 1943 it was replaced by simpler types derived from civilian production.
This is a combined offering in which several kits from this range are gathered together, so that one purchase lets you build a group of vehicles with a common frame and different bodies. Inside you will find injection-molded plastic sprues and assembly instructions. Cutting from the sprues, cleaning up, gluing and painting are left to the modeler; glue and paints are not supplied. Given the number of small chassis parts, it is advisable to build the vehicles one after another rather than all at once.
