1:350 USS Parche SSN-683 (early version) is a plastic kit of the American Sturgeon class attack submarine in her original form, that is, before the later conversion. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

A plastic kit in 1:350 scale from the Ukrainian maker Mikromir. It represents the USS Parche in her early version, that is, in the form in which the boat entered service. This is the key detail with this subject: from the same manufacturer there is also a late version of the same boat and the two issues differ in the length of the hull by tens of meters. So before buying compare the finish with a photograph of the boat from the period you want to build.
The Parche was a Sturgeon class attack submarine. The Ingalls Shipbuilding yard at Pascagoula laid her keel on 10 December 1970, she went into the water on 13 January 1973 and entered service on 17 August 1974; she was withdrawn in 2004. As built she measured over ninety meters and carried a crew of around a hundred and ten. Between 1987 and 1991 she was converted at Mare Island for secret reconnaissance tasks: she received a straight section thirty meters long inserted into the hull forward of the conning tower, with which her length grew toward a hundred and twenty meters and the crew to almost a hundred and eighty. It is precisely that inserted section that the early version lacks. The boat is often described as the most decorated vessel in the history of the US Navy.
Fill and sand the long joint of the hull halves; on a cylindrical hull every ripple stands out. Align the rudders and the surfaces of the conning tower to the axis and measure them from the base. Lighten the black finish and separate the underwater part with a waterline, so that the model does not lose its outline in the display case.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
