A large injection-molded kit of the American heavy bomber Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress in 1:48 from HK Models. The kit is among the big and richly divided models with an elaborate surface and a high parts count, which make a detailed build of the airframe and of the internal spaces possible. The enclosed decals offer period American markings. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
The B-17F was one of the production versions of the famous four-engine Flying Fortress bomber. It was marked by a glazed nose without the later chin turret, which only the following G version received. It flew mainly with the US Army Air Forces on daylight strategic raids over Europe, where it became famous for its defensive strength and its toughness. The model captures the characteristic look of this early combat version of the Fortress.
On a large kit it pays to build in sections and to try the parts dry, especially on the fuselage, the engine nacelles and the glazing. Glue the plastic with a thin modeling cement, fill the joints if necessary and sand them down. Metal surfaces of natural aluminum will appreciate a good base and metallic paints applied with an airbrush; mask the large glazed areas carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
