An injection-molded plastic kit of the American twin-engine medium bomber in 1:48 scale. It is a new mold from HK Models, derived from their large B-25J, so it has nothing in common with the older molds of other brands. Watch the version: this box is the Glazed Nose, that is the glazed bombardier nose — the classic bomber in which the bombardier looks down onto the target. It is not the variant with a solid nose, which was the attack version with the nose packed with machine guns firing forward. The two variants look completely different and cannot be confused. In the box you will find gray plastic, separately packed clear parts for the extensive glazing, a small photo-etched fret (seat belts, for example), a preformed metal nose weight (the B-25 has a nose landing gear, so without the weight the model would sit on its tail) and decals for two markings. Dimensions of the finished model: wingspan about 429 mm, length about 345 mm.
The B-25 Mitchell was a versatile twin-engine medium bomber that served on every front of the Second World War. The type's most famous moment was the raid on Tokyo in April 1942 — sixteen B-25s took off from the deck of an aircraft carrier, an unheard-of feat for a twin-engine bomber, and with it the Allies struck the Japanese home islands for the first time. The J version was the most numerous and was built in two fundamentally different nose configurations: the glazed (bomber) nose and the solid one (the attack nose with a battery of forward-firing machine guns, typically for low-level attacks in the Pacific). This model represents the first of them.
Bond with liquid cement for plastic; do not forget the metal nose weight before you close the fuselage. The glazed nose is the main feature of the model — leave the clear parts until last if you can, protect them from sanding dust and bond them with glue for clear parts (it will not fog the surface). Finish the interior, the cockpit and the bombardier station before joining the fuselage halves. Airbrush painting: natural metal or olive drab depending on the chosen scheme, decals over a gloss coat, a final matte coat to seal them and fine washes in the engraved lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
