ICM 1:48 I-153 (Winter Version) is an injection-molded plastic kit of a Soviet biplane fighter on ski landing gear, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet biplane fighter Polikarpov I-153 in its winter version, 1:48 scale, by the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The winter version differs from the standard one in having ski landing gear instead of wheels, so the model can be built as part of a snowy diorama. The box includes water-slide decals for several aircraft.
The I-153 Chaika was the culmination of Soviet biplane fighter development from N. N. Polikarpov's design bureau. It was distinguished by a gulled upper wing and, unusually for its time, retractable landing gear. The aircraft carried machine gun armament and, in field conditions, was often fitted with skis for operating from snow-covered and frozen surfaces. It saw action at the start of the Second World War as well as in earlier conflicts.
With a biplane, pay attention to precisely fitting the struts and the wing spacing; a dry run without glue helps. Glue the plastic with a thin liquid cement, and glue the delicate ski landing gear parts carefully. Apply a primer before painting; winter schemes often combine a dark upper camouflage with a roughly applied white winter finish, which can be rubbed off in places at the end for a weathered look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
