An injection-molded plastic kit of the German short-range reconnaissance aircraft Fw 189 in the A-2 version, in 1:72. The machine has an unmistakable layout: a glazed central nacelle with the crew and two tail booms, with the fins at their ends joined by a tailplane. It is therefore not a twin-fuselage aircraft; there is a single fuselage and the booms come out of the wing.
The Fw 189 served for short-range reconnaissance, that is for observing the area just ahead of friendly units and for directing artillery fire. The extensive glazing of the nacelle gave the crew a view in practically every direction, which mattered more for this work than speed did. Power came from a pair of air-cooled inverted V12 engines. The aircraft was agile and surprisingly tough, so it earned a good reputation among its crews.
The extensive glazing is the main challenge of the whole build. Finish and paint the interior of the nacelle before you close it, and mask the glazing with pre-cut masks or narrow tape. Glue the tail booms on a flat surface and keep checking the symmetry, because a tail surface seated crooked shows at once. German camouflage schemes of the Eastern Front take well to a fine emphasis of the panels and to traces of service around the engines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
