A plastic kit of the British four-engine bomber Handley Page Halifax B Mk.III in 1:72 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. The manufacturer gives 257 parts, decals for two marking options, a British one and an Australian one, and a span of almost 44 cm for the finished model. The equipment includes the four Hercules radial engines, a fitted-out bomb bay with a bomb load and movable elevators and rudder. The level of difficulty is higher, so this is a build for more experienced modelers.
Together with the Lancaster, the Halifax was the main heavy bomber of British Bomber Command. The B Mk.III version exchanged the Merlin V12 engines for radial Bristol Hercules units, received rectangular vertical tail surfaces and was the most numerous variant of the type - more than two thousand were built. It reached the units at the end of 1943 and was flown over Europe until the end of the war, with Canadian and Australian squadrons besides the RAF.
On a large bomber it pays to build in sub-assemblies and to keep checking how the fuselage meets the wings. Finish the interior and the bomb bay before you close the fuselage up, and mask the glazing. The night scheme with black undersides comes out well over a matte base; bring out the panel lines gently and do not overdo it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
