Injection-molded plastic kit of a trebuchet in 1:72 scale from Zvezda. The model is made up of several dozen plastic parts and once assembled it makes a striking centerpiece for a diorama and for the gaming table. Even a less experienced modeler will manage the assembly, though patience with the fit of the arm and the counterweight comes in useful.
The trebuchet was the most powerful lever-arm throwing engine of the Middle Ages. It used the energy of a large counterweight to hurl a heavy projectile along an arcing path and served to bombard walls and fortresses. It could throw stones weighing tens of kilograms over distances of hundreds of meters.
Cut the parts from the sprues with nippers and clean up the sprue gates. Glue with thin plastic cement. The wooden structure comes into its own in shades of brown with dry weathering to bring out the grain; darken the metal fittings and pick them out lightly with wear. A base coat under the airbrush improves the adhesion of the paints.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
