A kit of the American observation and light attack aircraft OV-10A Bronco in 1:72 scale. The model is intended to be assembled and painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The OV-10A Bronco came about as an aircraft for use over the battlefield at low altitude: it observed, directed air support onto targets and could attack itself. It was powered by a pair of turboprop engines in nacelles that continue into the tail booms carrying the tail surfaces. The two-man crew sit in tandem under extensive glazing, which gives them a view downward and to the sides, and that was essential for the forward air controller role. Behind the cabin there is a cargo compartment, and short sponsons with pylons adjoin the fuselage. The aircraft could cope with a short and unpaved strip, so it could operate close to the units it was helping.
This is a kit to be glued and painted; in 1:72 scale the finished model has a span of around seventeen centimeters. The extent of the parts and the choice of marking options are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
With the pair of tail booms it pays to glue on a flat board and keep checking that the tail surfaces are not twisted. Finish and paint the cabin with its large glazing before you close it up. Clean the parts of surplus material and traces of manufacture, wash and degrease the surface before painting, apply the paint in thin coats and stick the masks on the glazing before spraying.
The kit will please modelers with an interest in close support aircraft and in equipment deployed in Southeast Asia. Paints, thinner, glue and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
