A set of injection-molded plastic figures in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. It is a figure set in 1:35 scale, not a vehicle kit and not a set of finished painted figures. The item is the fifth part of the thematic series ICM devotes to the events around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant; the other parts of the series carry the same title with a different sequence number.
After the accident at the fourth block of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in April 1986, the civilian population was evacuated from the area around the plant, above all from the nearby town of Pripyat. The evacuation ran over a short span of time, by bus, and with luggage limited to the barest necessities. The set depicts civilians in that situation, that is civilian figures, not military vehicles and not armed personnel.
Figures in 1:35 are glued with liquid plastic cement; it is worth sanding and filling the mold seams on the arms and torso so that they do not distract where the cloth is meant to be smooth. A primer in gray or a flesh tone makes it easier to see the shape of the face. Paint the faces with a brush and build the tone up in layers: a base skin shade, a thin dark wash into the recesses and a final lightening on the forehead, the nose and the cheekbones. With civilian clothing, variety of color helps; several different shades look more natural than a uniform palette. Finally, knock the figures back with a matte coat, leaving only the eyes and any shiny objects glossy.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
