A short-run plastic kit of a light aircraft in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer RS models, released as a limited edition. In the product name the type is written as RVD-13; in the literature, however, the designation RWD-13 is used consistently, and it came from the initials of the three designers. A limited edition means a smaller print run, so with a box of this kind count rather on limited availability than on a permanent production item.
The RWD-13 was a Polish three-seat light high-wing aircraft of the middle of the 1930s, designed as a touring and liaison machine. It became known for its very short takeoff and landing and its low landing speed, which made it a popular sporting and air ambulance aircraft. The machines reached foreign users as well, and the type was also built under license in Yugoslavia, where it was produced by the Rogozarski company, to which the name on the box refers.
A short-run kit differs from mass-produced ones in thicker sprue gates, softer plastic and the absence of locating pins. Clean the parts with a sharp knife and sandpaper, then, and try every join dry before you reach for glue. Line the thin parts up in advance according to the instructions, such as the landing gear struts and the wing bracing; with a high-wing aircraft it is exactly the symmetry of the wing against the fuselage that decides the result, so get a flat surface and something to measure with ready. The canopy glazing is large and visible, so it pays to mask it and to glue it with a cement for clear parts that leaves no clouding. Use a quality primer under light civil finishes, because seams showing through are immediately noticeable on them.
