Soviet Aerosan North-2 in 1:72 scale is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet mail propeller sled (aerosan), that is a vehicle on skis driven by an aircraft propeller.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet aerosan, which appears in the sources under its home name Sever-2 as well as in the translated form North-2. The vehicle moved over snow on skis and was driven by an aircraft propeller. For this box the manufacturer gives plastic parts and clear film for the windows, but no photo-etched parts. Check the contents of the package on the box.
The Sever-2 aerosan was created in the design bureau of Nikolai Kamov, that is at a firm modelers know better for its helicopters. The basis was the body of a GAZ-M-20 Pobeda passenger car set on skis, with an Ivchenko AI-14 radial aircraft engine and a pusher propeller added at the rear. It was not a military vehicle: the machine was meant to carry mail and passengers across Siberia and the Soviet Far East, where there were no passable roads in winter. It was built only briefly at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s, because a passenger-car chassis was not enough for cargo and rough ground. The newer Ka-30 took its place.
Older molds need patient leveling of the mold seams, so go over the parts with a sanding sponge before gluing. Cut the clear window film with an overlap and fix it with glue intended for clear parts so that it does not fog. Spray the body to a gloss and leave the engine and the propeller in metallic shades. Snow in a diorama looks best made from fine granulate with a binder rather than from cotton wool.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
