1:72 Starter Kit Messerschmitt Bf-109

Messerschmitt Bf 109 starter set (1:72, Revell)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary German Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter in 1:72 scale from the German manufacturer Revell. This is what is known as a starter set (model set), intended for complete beginners and for returnees to modeling: besides the sprues with the parts, the box holds a set of basic paints, glue, a brush and clear illustrated instructions, so you can build and paint the model without having to buy anything else. A decal sheet with period aircraft markings is included as well.

The real subject

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is one of the best-known fighters of the Second World War and at the same time one of the most-produced combat aircraft in history. The all-metal single-seat low-wing aircraft with a liquid-cooled inverted V12 Daimler-Benz engine stood out for its agility and its good rate of climb and served on every front, where Luftwaffe pilots flew it from the beginning of the war to its end. Many production versions appeared over time, differing in engine, armament and aerodynamic details.

Building and painting tips

Separate the parts from the sprues with side cutters or a knife and glue them with thin modeling cement for plastic. Before the decals, apply a gloss coat, lay the decals onto the gloss and finally unify everything with a matte clear coat. Deal with the cockpit and the landing gear before you close the fuselage. The enclosed paints are enough for the basic scheme; an airbrush suits finer transitions.

Who the model is for

• Complete beginners and returnees to plastic modeling
• Modelers who appreciate a complete all-in-one set
• Collectors of Luftwaffe aircraft in a small scale

The set contains an unassembled and unpainted model; paints, glue and a brush are part of this starter package.
