The real subject

The T-54 is a Soviet medium tank of the postwar generation and one of the most widespread tanks ever built. Its low silhouette, rounded turret and 100 mm gun made it the pattern along which armored vehicles developed for decades. The T-54B is one of the later versions of the family and differs from the earlier machines in details of the equipment and the external fittings. In service around the world this type lasted unusually long and still turns up in photographs from conflicts today.

What the model offers

The 1:72 scale is rewarding for anyone who wants several vehicles together: the model takes up little space and lends itself to a whole column or a scene. The parts are smaller than in the usual 1:35 scale, which makes clean work with the glue all the more important. The exact parts count, the extent of the fittings and the marking options offered are given in the manufacturer instructions.

Building and painting tips

Cut the parts off with side cutters a little away from the part and sand the rest. Work with tweezers and over a light surface, because a part lost in this scale is practically impossible to find. Assemble and paint the running gear before the fenders cover it. Apply the paint in thin coats, otherwise the fine surface relief is lost. Picking out the edges and raised details with a dry brush looks better in a small scale than heavy shading.
