A model of the American M2 assault boat in 1:72 scale is a small engineer craft for compact dioramas. It fits in with both equipment and figures in 1:72.
Responsibility details are not available.
The M2 assault boat of the US Army reduced to 1:72. In the most widespread scale for both military vehicles and aircraft it becomes a small object that can be worked into a riverside scene, next to a truck or among figures without any trouble.
The M2 was a small assault boat for carrying a squad across a water obstacle. The engineer units of the US Army used it during river crossings in the Second World War, usually in some numbers and with a paddling crew. The structure was plain, because the boat had to be light, carried on a vehicle and easily replaced. In a modeling scene it works as a readable narrative element: it is immediately clear what is going on in the setting.
In 1:72 scale the boat is a small object, so clean cleanup is what decides. Separate the parts carefully, sand them with fine paper and wash them before painting so that the primer holds. Paint the inside before you cover it with cargo or figures. A darker wash into the corners and between the benches suits an olive base, along with very light dry-brushing of the edges. In a river scene a suggested waterline and mud in the bottom will help; a matte coat will even the surface out at the end. Several boats side by side make a more convincing setting than a single one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
