Twenty-one soldiers come in the set 28mm French Napoleonic Wars Line Dragoons 1812-1815 (13 + 8 Figures): thirteen mounted horsemen and eight dragoons fighting on foot.
Responsibility details are not available.
The unusual make-up of this box from Perry Miniatures comes from the way dragoons really fought. Alongside thirteen mounted horsemen you will find eight dismounted dragoons in it, so you can also build the man holding the others' horses. Six fallen figures, French and British, bases for the unit and a painting guide are enclosed as well.
Dragoon regiments originally arose as infantry carried on horseback, and they kept that twofold nature in the Napoleonic era too. In the field they dismounted when taking villages, bridges and passes, with one man out of every four staying in the saddle and holding the reins of the remaining horses. That is exactly why the eight foot figures in the set are so useful: they open up scenes you cannot build from a purely mounted box.
The box holds torsos for the elite company in the right proportion, both with the helmet and with the fur cap that some regiments kept. Paint the helmet crest with its horsehair tail separately, or the brass color will get carried into it. Place the fallen figures toward the edge of the formation; in the middle they would draw attention away from the living soldiers.
The dragoons come in raw plastic without paints and without glue.
