A photo-etched detail set for the glazed nose of a model of the American Douglas A-26C Invader attack aircraft in 1:32 scale. This is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that refines the fittings of a space that stays permanently visible behind the glazing. Check the exact make-up of the package against the illustration on the packaging.
The A-26C version differed from the A-26B attack version in its glazed nose with a bombardier's station. Behind the framed glazing sat a seat, instruments and controls, which are the more visible on a finished model the larger the scale. In 1:32 scale a plastic molding with suggested shapes therefore shows its limits quickly, and a built-up nose interior is among the first visible improvements to a model.
Deal with the interior before you close the fuselage up — once it is glued you can no longer reach it. Separate the photo-etched parts with a scalpel on a hard surface and make the bends in a bender. Degrease the metal and cover it with a primer. They are glued with cyanoacrylate in tiny drops; an excess of glue could fog the glazing, so fit the clear parts last and preferably glue them with canopy glue. Paint the interior, add a dark wash into the recesses and pick out the edges with gentle drybrushing. Leave the glazing clean on the inside and mask it before spraying.
