AMMO of Mig Jimenez ACRYLIC WASH — Brown Wash for Dark Yellow is a brown acrylic wash in a 15 ml dropper bottle, tuned in shade to the German dark yellow Dunkelgelb. It is modeling chemistry for weathering, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A ready-to-use brown wash for picking out detail. The package is a 15 ml bottle with a dropper cap, thanks to which you dispense only as much of the product as you need. The wash flows into recesses, around rivets, panel lines and cast detail, where it stays once dry and visually pulls them forward. It is not a kit or a paint for a base coat — it is modeling chemistry for weathering a finished model.
This shade is deliberately matched to the German dark yellow (Dunkelgelb) — the base color of German armored vehicles from roughly 1943. That is the whole point of the product: an ordinary black or very dark wash would dirty the light yellow toward gray, knock down its brightness and the subject would lose its character. A brown, warmly tuned wash, by contrast, lifts the detail without muddying the shade itself — the shadow looks natural, like settled dust and grime, not like a gray film over the whole model.
Most washes on the market are enamel, that is, solvent-based, and are wiped off with mineral spirits. This one is acrylic, thinnable and removable with water (or with the acrylic thinner from the same manufacturer). In practice: it has no odor, it is gentler and can be used in a living room, and it dries faster than an enamel. But it comes with two rules that have to be kept. A dried acrylic wash wipes off less easily than an enamel one, so deal with the excess before it sets. And above all: never apply it over an acrylic coat that has not cured — it would dissolve it and you would strip the paint down to the plastic. Let the base color dry thoroughly and coat it with a cured gloss varnish; on a smooth gloss surface the wash also flows better and wipes off the flat areas more easily.
For modelers building German Second World War vehicles in yellow camouflage and for anyone who wants to weather without the smell of solvents. Thanks to its water-thinnable base it also suits beginners and work at a desk in an apartment.
Modeling chemistry, not intended for children — keep it out of their reach. Ventilate while working, use respiratory protection if you spray it, and do not eat or drink at the model.
