About product

The color

A racing red from the Real Colors range by the brand AK Interactive in a package with a volume of 17 ml. The designation refers to the Italian town of Maranello, whose name is bound up with the color red in the motoring world, and it is supplemented by a limitation to the nineteen-seventies and nineteen-eighties. The shade is therefore aimed at models of Formula cars from those years, not at modern machines, on which the tone of red has shifted.

Where you will use it

On the bodywork of models of Formula cars of that period and on the parts painted in the same tone, that is on covers, wings and accessories. It will also find use on other racing machinery of the period and on models of vehicles for which you need a saturated red with older roots rather than today's shade.

How to work with the paint

Stir the paint properly before use. Bodywork needs a smooth surface: sand the part, wash it and degrease it, and spray over a light primer, above which the red comes out more saturated and more even. Apply in several thin coats and let the paint become tacky between them; a single heavy coat runs together and leaves streaks, which are clearly visible on a large red surface. Put the masks on before spraying and take them off only once the paint has dried. The recommended thinner, the thinning ratio and the cleaning of tools are stated by the manufacturer.

Who it is for

For the modeler who builds period Formula cars and wants to have shades from a single range. The package holds only paint with a volume of 17 ml; thinner, primer, varnish and tools are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

On Formula cars from the period given in the name and on racing machinery of that time. It suits modern machines less well, as the tone of red has shifted since then.

It is an Italian town whose name is bound up with racing red in the motoring world. In the name it serves to identify the shade.

With red it pays off. Over a light base the shade comes out more saturated and the coverage is more even than straight on the plastic.

In several thin coats with pauses for the paint to become tacky. Sand, wash and degrease the surface beforehand.
