The stencil carries a pattern of small irregular blotches. You lay it on the surface of a model or a diorama and spray paint through the cutouts. The result is a pattern that looks random but can be repeated and controlled. It finds a use on mottled camouflage, on soiling and dusting, on damp patches on masonry and on irregular transitions between shades over larger areas.
The working format of 110 x 70 mm covers an ordinary part or a smaller diorama base in one go; on a larger area the stencil is shifted and rotated, so that the pattern does not visibly repeat. Because it is a tool and not a single-use part, count on using it on more than one build.
Lay the stencil on the surface before spraying and apply several light coats rather than one heavy one. Pressed down, the stencil gives a sharp edge to the blotch; lifted slightly, a soft and blurred one. Spray perpendicular to the surface and at lower pressure, so that paint does not creep under the edges of the cutouts. When you have finished spraying, take the stencil off and clean it before the paint dries on it; choose the cleaning agent according to the manufacturer's instructions and the paint used.
The stencil is supplied on its own. Paints, spraying equipment and masking material are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
