A kit of the Soviet Beriev Be-12 amphibian in the version designated NH, in 1:144 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Be-12 is a Soviet amphibian with a boat hull and a cranked wing whose outer sections rise upwards. The pair of turboprop engines sits precisely at the crank of the wing, that is as high above the surface as possible, so that the propellers do not pick up spray. Retractable landing gear allowed operation from water as well as from a hard surface, which is a striking feature on a machine of this size. It entered service in the 1960s and carried out tasks over the sea for many years.
The real subject had a span of around thirty meters, so the model comes out at approximately twenty centimeters. A display case therefore takes an aircraft that in the more usual scales would fill a whole shelf. A small scale also forgives small things and rewards clean work: what decides is above all an accurately fitted hull, symmetrical dihedral of the wing and a thin, unsmudged line on the glazing frames.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the box, unless stated otherwise.
