Anodized Violet is a violet shade from the metallic block of the 3rd Generation range. The name refers to the look of anodized, that is surface-treated, metal of the kind you know from glowing exhaust headers or from color-finished parts on motorcycles and bicycles. The package holds 17 ml of water-based acrylic, thinned with water or with an acrylic thinner.
A shade of this type is not meant to cover fully. Real anodizing reads as metal still showing under the colored layer, and the paint behaves the same way: spray a silver or steel base first, let it dry and lay the violet shade over it as no more than a veil. You control the strength of the effect by the number of passes, not by the density of the paint. For a heat gradient on an exhaust, start with a heavier coat at the cylinder head and let it fade out gradually toward the outlet. It is better not to go over the finished surface with a flat clear coat, as that would dull the metallic base.
It finds a use on motorcycles and cars, on engines and exhaust systems, on modern vehicles and in science fiction subjects, wherever color-finished metal should be apparent. Working with it assumes an airbrush and some experience of layering translucent coats.
Keep out of the reach of children and close the bottle well after use. When spraying with an airbrush, ventilate the room and protect your airways.
