0.6 mm, the second step of the line with a domed head. The size that the ring of screws around a brake disc works out to in 1:12 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The steps of this line are spaced a tenth of a millimeter apart, and 0.6 mm tends to be the first choice wherever several heads repeat side by side. Typically that means the ring around a brake disc or the circle around a clutch cover: a single head is small, but eight to twelve of them at a regular spacing make a pattern the eye notices before the disc itself.
Because the upper face is not flat but domed, no sharp boundary of the head arises on the model. What arises is a transition: light slides across the dome and a narrow shadow stays at the foot of the element. That shadow does the work a thin outline of paint would have to do on a flat head. Inside there remains the six-point hole, which can be brought out with a wash once it has dried.
Tightening at this size is only possible in exceptional cases and with the smallest tip available. It is more practical to pre-drill the hole to 0.5 mm, lay the elements out with tweezers along a marked spacing and only then fix them. It pays to mark the spacing lightly with the point of a needle first, because an element that has dried cannot be moved without damaging the paint.
Anyone building in a larger scale will reach for the higher steps in this line – the range carries on without a break up to 1.2 mm.
On parts that will still be handled during the build it is better to fit them after the last sanding. Domed crowns are the first thing abrasive paper wipes away, and they cannot then be restored except by replacing the whole element.
