A package of fourteen acrylic paints completed by one figure of an abbess, meant for a start with painting fantasy characters.
Responsibility details are not available.
The figure of the head of a religious community is painted quite differently from a man-at-arms in plate armor. Cloth decides: a long robe, a cape, a collar, strips of trim. On cloth one works with soft transitions, with layering thinly diluted paint and with the fact that the shadow lies in a fold rather than on an edge. The make-up of this box matches that, with muted and broken tones outweighing bright ones.
The basis is formed by ivory and smoke black, that is the pair for the highlights and the depths of the robe. Then come two yellows in a pastel and a sickly position, Japanese brown, field earth and British khaki for leather accessories and straps, black red and brown pink for the trim, sickly pink and light flesh for the face and hands, purple as a sharp accent and finally ducat and sky blue for cold reflections.
The package is built as an entry point. Anyone buying their first paints usually has no suitable figure at hand to try them on, and so one is right there in the box. That also makes the set work as a gift, because the person receiving it needs to look for nothing else.
On cloth it pays to start with a mid tone, to add a darker color from the same family in the shadow and to build the highlight up in layers, each with a greater share of water. Skin is painted last, so that the surrounding shades are not carried into it. The paints can be thinned with water, dry matte and can be mixed with one another without losing saturation.
