A styrene H-shaped beam 4.00 x 4.00 x 350 mm from AK Interactive, 3 pieces per pack according to the name. The heaviest H section in the range, for main beams and bridge structures.
Responsibility details are not available.
The heaviest H-shaped section in this range: a symmetrical 4.00 x 4.00 mm section, 350 mm long and, according to the name, 3 pieces per pack. The material is styrene. It is a raw material for scratch building and for modifying models, that is material for further work. A section this heavy is used where a structure is to be the main element of a scene and where a thinner one would look undersized.
The heaviest size in the range is harder to cut with a hand knife; a fine-toothed saw or a cutting jig gives a cleaner result. Always true the ends with a file and check that they are square, because on main beams every inaccuracy carries through the whole structure. Join styrene with liquid cement for polystyrene; on large joints apply the cement along the whole length of the seam and let the joint cure undisturbed. Assemble an extensive structure dry first and glue it up in sections. A heavy section is rewarding for weathering: over a thin base coat, traces of welds, rust in the corners and dust in the recesses between the web and the flanges all stand out.
For builders of large dioramas, bridges and industrial scenes, for modelers working in the larger scales and for anyone who needs a stiff load-bearing element. It assumes that you design the part yourself and have experience of cutting and gluing plastic.
When cutting, work on a mat and protect your eyes, and clear the offcuts away safely.
