Chibi-Maru Fleet Fuso from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi turns the battleship Fuso into the cute distorted form of the Chibi-Maru line. This is not a scale model — the hull is shortened and the proportions exaggerated, so the most characteristic thing about the original comes out in full: the enormous tower-like pagoda superstructure. Simple construction means a quick build and a rewarding result even for a complete novice.
Fuso was the lead ship of her class, built during the First World War as one of the first super-dreadnoughts of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Interwar modernization brought her an extremely tall pagoda superstructure, which makes her one of the most easily recognizable battleships in history. Together with her sister ship Yamashiro she went down in October 1944 in the Battle of Surigao Strait.
Start with the hull and assemble the superstructure as a separate unit — it is then easier to paint. Bond the parts with a thin cement for plastic and use acrylics: a gray hull, a darker deck and a fine wash in the intricate pagoda will bring the model beautifully to life. A final matte varnish will unify the surface and protect the paint.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
