Chibi-Maru Fleet Haruna is a cute distorted kit of the Japanese fast battleship Haruna from Fujimi — a shortened hull, an undemanding build and no conventional scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Chibi-Maru Fleet Haruna from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi is the basic release of the ship Haruna in the distorted style of the Chibi-Maru line. This is not a scale model — the hull is markedly shortened and the gun turrets and superstructures playfully exaggerated, so an imposing warship turns into a cute miniature. The build is undemanding, quick and suitable as a first encounter with a plastic model.
Haruna was one of the four units of the Kongo class. She entered service in 1915 as a battlecruiser and after two major modernizations became a fast battleship able to keep pace with aircraft carriers. She went through most of the major operations of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Pacific and, as one of the last heavy ships of the fleet, was not sunk until July 1945 at her moorings off Kure.
Dry-fit the assembly first, then bond it with a thin cement for plastic. For painting, acrylics and a brush are enough: a gray hull, a darker deck and black accents on the funnel. Anyone who wants more depth can add a fine wash in the recesses of the superstructures and finish with a matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
