Why gray is the most demanding color on a model
A gray area forgives nothing. Unlike saturated red or blue it does not draw attention away from the shape, so once it has dried every remnant of a mold seam, every unsanded ripple and every transition between plastic and filler is visible. A gray model stands and falls with the preparation of the body, not with the paint itself.
First smooth and degrease the body and even out the surface underneath, as with gray a differing surface draws itself through particularly readily. Apply the paint in several thin coats instead of one heavy one; a thin coat follows the edges better and does not flood the engraved lines. Stir the bottle well before use and during the work.
