Six figures make up three couples who walk side by side and wear winter clothing: coats, headgear, collars buttoned warmly up. The set is therefore narrowly aimed: it does not belong on a summer meadow but in a scene where it is cold and people walk faster than usual.
A winter layout is rewarding among modelers precisely because of the small things. A snow-covered station roof proves nothing yet, but a group of people wrapped up in coats does it at once. Figures in heavier clothing also suit places where no snow is used at all: an early morning on a platform, a November scene with bare trees or a mountain halt, where it is cold outside the season as well.
A reduction of 1:87 means that one meter of the real thing measures a little over eleven millimeters, so an adult figure is about two centimeters. The couples work best in motion: on the way to an underpass, along a sidewalk beside the tracks or heading from the station building to a bus stop.
So that the couples do not read as stiff, turn them slightly toward each other, as if they were talking, and leave uneven gaps between them. A cold atmosphere is supported by subdued shades in the surroundings and by a dry brush of white on the edges of curbs; if you do use snow, a thin layer on the shoulders of the figures is more effective than a whole drift at their feet.
